Pirate Party: The Decorations

Arrr, mateys!  I have to say that I was majorly thankful for Cammie {my beloved Silhouette Cameo} this week as I finished the preparations for Little Crafter’s pirate party!  This was the first time I’ve had a cutting machine to use for one of his parties, and I can’t tell you how much easier it made things!  I wanted to have some banners for decoration, so I came up with these:

This Celebrate Banner went over the food table.

All I did was create a triangle shape in the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Software and cut nine of them from black cardstock.  Then, I cut the letters for the word “Celebrate” from white cardstock.  I loved that I was able to use Coolock Black font, which is the same font I used on the invitations and the signs…it’s such a pirate-y font, don’t you think?  Once I glued a letter to each triangle, I punched two holes in the top corners and threaded a long piece of twine through them all.  Once the banner was ready, I used my super high tech method of attaching it to the wall {Scotch tape} and prayed it wouldn’t fall into the cupcakes.

This Photo Banner has to be my favorite though; I hung it over the gift table so that as guests dropped off their presents, they could see Little Crafter growing up right before their eyes!

I had Cammie cut out six more of the same triangles, then printed out some very special photos.  The day we brought Little Crafter home from the hospital, we photographed him with a giant bear my mother bought for him.  As he continued to grow, we would take monthly photos of him with “Bobo.”  Now, each year we take a Bobo picture right around his birthday to show how big he is!

I cut a white mat for each photo to help it stand out on the black flag.  Then, I taped the flags to some skull and crossbones ribbon LC found at Michaels and insisted on getting because it was “perfect for a pirate party.”

Here’s a closer look at the photos from each year in case you’d like to see them…

What happened to my baby??

Well, friends, I’m off to celebrate with a special little man!  We’re headed out to mini-golf and then see the movie Planes in the theater!  He couldn’t be more excited…

Hugs & Glitter,
