Happy Valentine’s Day!

From our family to yours, Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!  Whether you’re married, dating, or single, today is a day all about showing love to the people you care about most.  It’s a time set aside to remind us not to take those special people for granted.  Do I think we should spend ridiculous amounts of money on roses and chocolates because companies tell us to?  Nope.  You won’t find either of those things in our Valentine celebration {partially because I’m allergic to flowers and wouldn’t mind losing five pounds}, but you will find us telling each other exactly how we feel, because it’s important.

In fact, I think we should all take every opportunity we have to let the people in our lives know how much we treasure them.  It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day to-do lists and just totally take for granted that our spouses, kids, parents, and friends know what’s in our hearts.  But the reality is, we all need to hear those things.  In the past two or three weeks, I’ve had three separate friends write to me and say the sweetest, most affirming words about me, my friendship with them, and how I’ve made them feel.  I treasure those messages.  And they came at just the right times, just when I was feeling low, doubting myself, or needing a word of encouragement.  When the people who love us take the time to tell us so, it matters.  It blesses us.

And so, I want to encourage you today and every day to do just that.  Honestly tell the people you treasure most just how much they mean to you.  Tell them why you love them.  Tell them how your life is different because they’re in it.  Tell them how much you value their friendship.  Tell your kids they are your most precious gifts.  Whatever it is, I want you to tell them.  And I want to help you do it.

I recently got a set of “big girl” watercolors and have been playing around with them a lot.  In doing so, I kind of stumbled upon this logo you may have seen me starting to use in my signatures and on the facebook page.  I think it encompasses what we’re all about here at One Artsy Mama.  Honesty.  Authenticity.  Love and encouragement.

I took this heart and then I also made an original watercolor wash to go along with it and I turned it into a printable 3×5 notecard.  It’s totally original artwork, handpainted by me, and I want to give it to you today.  To download it just go to the Honestly Free tab and you’ll be directed to e-junkie where you just fill out your name and email address and then get the file totally free.  You can save it to your computer and print it out as many times as you want.  Or, you can load it into a photo editor, add some text, and email or share it via your social media.  It’s my gift to you this Valentine’s Day.

Please enjoy it, use it, and I’d love to hear your stories!  To share about how you used the card, you can always tag me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and use the hashtag #honestlylove so I can find it!

In the meantime, here is my message to you:
