Here in the Artsy House, there’s even more to look forward to this summer than warm weather and vacation. I have a Little Crafter who is very excited about an upcoming movie starring the Minions! Our neighbor kiddos, who are at our house pretty much every day, are equally excited, so I thought they’d enjoy an after school snack featuring their favorite little yellow characters. While shopping at Food Lion, I found some specially labeled Mott’s products {available through July 31} that the kids already love.

I picked up a container of Mott’s 100% Apple Juice, a six-pack of Fruit Punch Rush, and a pack of Peach Mango Applesauce, all of which are excellent sources of Vitamin C and are gluten free. Plus, they have delicious flavors that the kids enjoy…and so do I! There are lots of other choices in the special packaging too, including three limited time Minion approved flavors available through July 31; Strawberry BA-NA-NA applesauce {4pk of pouches and singles where available},Tropical BA-NA-NA applesauce {6pk of cups}, and Tropical BA-NA-NA juice drink {6pk of 8oz bottles and singles where available}.

Once I had the Mott’s snacks and drinks at home, I set to work crafting a fun little keepsake and printable to go with them. You could either make these up ahead of time to surprise the kids, or let them help! Here’s how I did it.

Step 1: Trace the top of the applesauce container onto yellow felt and cut out two yellow circles. Using the container again, trace and cut a blue semi-circle for overalls. Cut two small blue rectangles for straps, two white circles for eyes, and a thin black smile.

Step 2: Glue the felt overalls, smile, and eye pieces to one of the yellow circles. Then, glue google eyes on top of the white circles.

Step 3: Glue the other yellow circle to the back of the one you just decorated. Insert a piece of ribbon between the two circles to form a hanger.

Step 4: Attach the felt minion to the top of an applesauce container using tape or removable glue dots. Print out the “one in a minion” printable, trim it, and place it with the snack.

Now this sweet snack is ready to serve! And when it’s time to open the applesauce and enjoy it, the felt Minion can be easily removed. After snack time is over, kids can hang the felt characters on their backpacks, in their rooms, or anywhere they like.
