DIY Bathroom Decor

Bathrooms are full of a lot of necessary things. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be stylish and full of inspiring things too! As many of you know, we moved to a new home about five months ago, and in the process we gained something we never had before: a master bathroom. I’ve been working on styling it just the way I want it to look, but I was totally shocked by the price tag on some of the things I wanted. I saw some designer tumblers and accessories that were fabulously minimalist and chic but they were $34 a piece! That didn’t quite fit the budget, so I decided to create my own knockoff version for a fraction of the cost, less than $2 each.

You’ll need:
a white tumbler and/or soap pump
a fine tip black paint marker {a permanent marker will also do the trick}

The inspiration tumblers I saw were each decorated with a small hand-drawn geometric pattern. One had triangles, one had dashes, one had “x”s, and my favorite had little open dots. I’m kind of obsessed with polkadots of all sizes, colors, and styles, so I knew that was how I wanted to decorate my pieces. I bought a cup and a soap dispenser from Walmart; the cup was 88 cents before tax and the dispenser was less than $2.

All I did was use my paint pen to carefully draw tiny circles all over the surface of each of the pieces. I tried to work in vertical lines, alternating the heights of the circles so they had somewhat of a pattern instead of just being placed totally randomly. At the same time, though, they still have that quirky hand-drawn appeal and aren’t perfectly spaced.

It was so simple to do and took less than ten minutes, but it adds so much to our master bath! There’s nothing like a fabulous makeover that costs $3 instead of $68, right?

My soap dispenser and tumbler aren’t the only things in my bathroom that are getting a makeover…our toilet tissue is too! Quilted Northern® may be a 100 year old brand but it’s getting a new, modern look. New packaging as well as a new pattern on the paper itself gives it a fresh appeal without compromising the quality you’ve come to expect. Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® still provides the perfect blend of comfort and durability with unique construction that limits tissue ripping and separation.

I grab my Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® at our local Walmart while I’m doing my regular shopping. The price is right, and so is the fact that double rolls last our family longer than a standard roll of toilet paper does.

I’m so excited to have my new designer-inspired bathroom accessories and it’s even more fun knowing I created them myself. Have you crafted anything to style your own bathrooms the way you want them to be? I’d love to hear about it!
