When I was growing up, I used to look forward to summer more than any other season because it was all about having fun! I remember playing outside for hours on the swing set, running around the yard barefoot, and creating imaginary games with my friends. It was the season for playing hopscotch on the sidewalk and eating popsicles on the porch without a care. Sometimes it feels like the whole world has changed since my childhood in the early 80’s, so I love it when I see my 7 year old Little Crafter still enjoying some of the very same things about summer.

LC and the boys next door run back and forth between the houses in bare feet and get covered in sidewalk chalk as they draw hopscotch games of their own. They spend hours creating obstacle courses and come in at the end of the day with dirty clothes, faces, and feet.

And, just like I did, they enjoy treats…both frozen and hot. Since I work from home, all three of the boys spend a lot of time at our house over the summer, which means I’m often in charge of providing lunch. I like having quick, affordable options on hand like Ellio’s frozen pizza, which is one more thing that’s just as good now as it was when I was a kiddo myself. Ellio’s is a convenient, satisfying and fun snack or meal, and it is ready quickly, so it can be served to your kids in no time.

Ellio’s uses fresh ingredients, with 100% real cheese and no artificial flavors. With six different varieties: Cheese, Pepperoni, Supreme, Five Cheese, Italian Sausage & Pepperoni, and Extra Cheese, it may be hard to choose just one favorite! I prefer the Five Cheese myself, while the kiddos tend to like Cheese or Extra Cheese. Hubby likes Italian Sausage & Pepperoni on his pizza. What would your favorite be? Check out the store locator at the top of the Ellio’s homepage to find a retailer near you.

On those long summer days, we also enjoy doing some simple craft projects just like I used to do with my mom. Here is a fun little craft that kiddos of all ages can create, personalized pizza magnets! You just need a few basic supplies, then it’s up to each child to create his/her perfect pizza. Then, when they’re done, these pizzas are a great way to hold artwork or other important papers on the fridge! Here’s how to do it…

Pizza Magnets

You’ll need:
Brown craft foam
Red, yellow, white, green, and black felt
Scissors
Glue
Small round magnets

Step 1: Cut your brown foam into a circle…or a rectangle if you want your pizza to look just like Ellio’s!

Step 2: Cut a slightly smaller circle {or rectangle} from your red felt, and another even smaller one from your yellow felt to represent the sauce and cheese.

Step 3: Cut small red circles for pepperoni and small black, white, and green felt pieces to represent pepperoni, olives, onions, and peppers. Feel free to get creative and cut out any other toppings your kids might like to use too, like sausage or mushrooms.

Step 4: Glue your magnet to one side of the brown foam. Let it dry, then flip the foam over so the plain side is face up.

Step 5: Let each child build his/her own pizza by gluing down sauce, cheese, and any combination of toppings!

That’s all there is to it! Kids will have a blast making their own specialty pizzas while enjoying a delicious lunch or snack of Ellio’s Pizza. Did you grow up eating Ellio’s too? I’d love to hear about your favorite childhood summer memories!
