Floral Notes Watercolor Tote Bag: Paint With Plaid

As many of you know, I got to spend last week in Atlanta, GA, with my friends from Plaid Crafts. It was an opportunity to learn about and literally get my hands on the newest products and create some really fun projects to share with you. One of the events I got to participate in was the Facebook Live Paint Night where we created this gorgeous floral tote bag.

Martha Stewart Floral Notes Paint Along Party

Suzanne Cook, one of Plaid’s designers, created this beautiful bag by using the Martha Stewart Soft Gel Watercolor Paints and Watercolor Brush Set. During the paint party, she walked us all through step-by-step how to paint each part of the design in just one hour.

The live event was held in a very cool little venue in Roswell, GA called circle + moon. It’s an all female coworking & community space {don’t tell them we let a few of the Plaid guys in!}, and the team had everything all set up for us to create our masterpieces.

Of course, what’s a party without food, so we also had some assorted snacks and desserts, including the world’s most delicious cake balls. The event was a partnership with both Martha Stewart and the Martha Stewart Wine Co., so some of Martha’s favorite wines were there for us to sample as well.

Once we got settled in with our snacks and our supplies, we were ready to create our tote bags! Here are the other amazing Plaid Creators, waiting to start painting: Kathy from Petticoat Junktion, Abbey from The Cards We Drew, Amy from Positively Splendid, Ashley from Cherished Bliss, Katie from Made to be a Momma, Bev from Flamingo Toes, and Liz & Sam from The Pretty Life Girls.

I really enjoyed playing with the watercolor paints, and Suzanne did a great job explaining how to do each step. Even though I’d never done watercolor florals before, I was able to complete the design with no problem. However, I am a perfectionist and I tend to be a little slow, so I admit to falling behind. I did complete my bag, it just took me a little longer than most of the others. I’m really pleased with how it turned out!

It seems like I’m always in need of a bag to carry either my things, or the boys’, or both when we go out somewhere, so I definitely plan on putting it to use!

If you love this bag design as much as I do, but missed the live video event, I have great news for you!

You’re not too late!!

You can catch the replay here and paint along from the convenience of your own home whenever you want. Just gather your supplies, get comfy, and press play. While the live event was a blast, there are definitely two benefits to watching later at home…one is that you can pause the video and catch up if you’re going slow like I was, and the other is that you can totally paint in your pajamas!

Here is a handy list Plaid created that has everything you’ll need for completing the project.

Paint Party Supply List

All that’s left to do is pull up the video on the Plaid Facebook page and get your craft on! Once you do, you can share pictures of your finished creation on any social channel you like with the hashtags #PaintWithPlaid, #ImSoMartha, and #MakeItWithMichaels.

Here’s a look at all of our finished bags…I just love seeing how unique they all are even though we had the same supplies and instructions. Don’t worry if yours doesn’t look exactly like the sample, you can see that each of us put our own spin on things too.

What are you waiting for? Gather those supplies and pick your own perfect time to paint. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!
